Mrs. Fleet, the wife of George Barry Fleet, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Methodist-Le Bonheur Hospital in Germantown, TN. She was the daughter of the late John R. and Nina Pirtle Pepper.

Born in Fayette County, she was a 1958 graduate of Whiteville High School and married Mr. Fleet in Lexington Park, MD on Saturday, November 15, 1958, as he was serving in the US Navy. While stationed in Sanford, FL, the Fleets were blessed by the birth of their three children, Donna, Missy and Eric. They also lived in Jacksonville, FL before returning to the Mid-South in 1977 to live in Memphis.

A homemaker, Mrs. Fleet was a long-time member of East Side Baptist Church where she was wedding coordinator for many years and active in the church’s deaf ministry. An artistic lady, she worked several years at the Mid-South Fair in the Creative Arts Center. In her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing, arranging flowers, gardening and working in her backyard.

In addition to her husband of over 60 years, she is survived by two daughters, Donna (Kevin) Sullivan of Willard, MO and Lynn Melissa (Eddie) Kelly of Bartlett; one son, Eric (Grayce) Fleet of Fairview; one brother, Robert J. (Anne) Pepper of Whiteville; fourteen grandchildren, Brandon, Preston (Whitney) and Justin Keith, Charity (Danny) Mathias, Chase and Carissa White, J. D., Alisha and Hannah Kelly, Caitlyn (Nate) Williams, Eryn West and Cameron, Ian and Mallie Fleet; one great-grandchild, Gavin Mathias and “one on the way”.
