David Johnson, age 85, of Summertown, TN passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Southern TN Regional Health System in Lawrenceburg, TN. He was a native of Lawrence County, TN, retired laborer with the Trade Union where he was a member of Nashville Laborers’ Union Local 386, and of the Baptist Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie David and Cora Mandy Matheny Johnson; his first wife, Bonita Elizabeth Gower Johnson; his second wife, Elaine Odle Surrett Johnson; three sisters, Charlene Shrader, Hattie Lee Johnson, and Pauline Johnson; and two brothers, Elmer Johnson and Elvin Johnson.
He is survived by one son, David Wayne Johnson (Sally) of Smithville, TN; one daughter, Darlene Johnson Griffin (Leroy Tomlin) of Summertown, TN; three brothers, Malachi Johnson of Danville, IN, Bobby Johnson of Hampshire, TN and Billy Johnson of Florida; and one sister, Maggie Stacy of Cloverdale, IN.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, October 18, 2019 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 19, 2019, with Lanier Nail officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Wayne County, TN.
