TVA Rockpile restoration work completed – Area completely open for recreation

COLBERT COUNTY TVA RESERVATION – The popular TVA Rockpile recreation area was closed for several months this Summer because of the historical flooding along the Tennessee River watershed from rains last February. On Tuesday TVA announced that several million dollars worth of repair and restoration work has been completed, and announced that the area is once again fully open to the public.

The storms in February caused severe flooding at the recreation area. The water was so deep that the facility was, for the most part submerged, the swift currents causing severe damage to the facility. It was rendered unsafe for public use.

Tuesday, TVA representatives Scott Fiedler and Derek South gave local news media a tour of the repaired and renovated recreation area. Everything from the boat ramp, the children’s playground, fencing and roadways has been cleaned, repaired or replaced including a new state-of-the-are restroom building. It is beautiful.
