Graveside service for Ms. Melissa Higgs Dorminey, age 52, of Raleigh, NC will be conducted at 2 PM on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Wright’s Cemetery with Bro. Joe Wayne McGee officiating.
Melissa was born on September 29, 1967 in Clarksville, TN to Norma Thornton Higgs and the late Jimmy Wade Higgs. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University and master’s from the University of Florida and later worked in accounting. Melissa loved all animals and especially horses. Ms. Dorminey passed away on October 10, 2019 in Raleigh, NC.
Survivors include her children, Mikhala and Robert Wade Dorminey of Raleigh, NC; mother, Norma Thornton Higgs of Fayetteville, TN; brother, Alan Wade (Teresa) Higgs of Fayetteville, TN; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her infant brother, Jimmy Wade Higgs, Jr; maternal grandparents, James and Thelma Thornton; and paternal grandparents, Jimmy and Sybil Higgs.
