Charles (Chuck) Salvo

Charles (Chuck) Salvo age 95 passed away Monday, Oct 14, 2019. He was born in Rimersburg, PA, and has been a resident of Huntsville since 1963.
He joined the Army in 1942 and served two tours of duty in Germany and Austria with the Big Red 1. He was involved in the liberation of the German Concentration Camp at Dachau and was then on his way to Japan when the war ended. He then headed up a Nike missile site in Milwaukee, WI for the remainder of his enlistment. He retired from the Army in 1962 as a CW2.
Mr. Salvo opened and operated Banner TV and Appliance in Huntsville from 1966 to 1986. He served many years as a volunteer at St. Joseph Catholic Community and the Redstone Arsenal Thrift Shop.
Mr. Salvo is survived by his children Lania Rivamonte (Joe), Pat Davis (Tommy), Tony Salvo (Cindi), and Mike Salvo (Teresa). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lisa Sellers, Chris Cooley, Stacey Howard, Brian Davis, Will Davis, Jacki Salvo, Cole Salvo, DeAnne Shields and Mike Rivamonte; great-grandchildren Drew, Hayley and Zach Howard, Colin Mullins, Andrew Cooper, Christina and Jenson Cooley, Chandler and Camryn Shields, Jaxson and Liam Salvo, and Connor Davis. He is also survived by his brother Car- men Salvo, brother-in-law Neil Shively, sister-in-law Bernice West, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Salvo is preceded in death by his wife Orena Salvo, son Joe, daughter Cathy, grandsons Christopher Mullins and Greg Salvo, brothers Samuel, Joseph Jr., Peter, Joseph, Richard, Ralph, Angelo, Victor, and sisters Grace Kukla, Josephine Mortimer, and Lucille Shively.
Visitation is Monday, Oct. 21, 2019, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home followed by his service at 12:00 p.m.  Burial to follow in Huntsville Memory Gardens with full military honors.
