Obituary of Louise Parks Higgins Mary Louise Parks Higgins of Huntsville, passed away peacefully on Oct. 7, 2019 at the age of 96. Louise was born in Tallassee, AL on Dec. 3, 1922. She married John W. Higgins, Jr, also of Tallassee, on July 18, 1947 after his return from serving in the Pacific during World War II. They moved to Huntsville, AL in 1951 making it their permanent home where they raised their 4 children. Louise and John were married 61 years before his death in 2008.

Louise was a charter member of Lakewood Baptist Church where she volunteered on many church activities for the benefit of the community. Meals on Wheels was also a community mission where Louise volunteered for many years. After John’s death Louise became a member of Oak Park Baptist church for the remainder of her life where she enjoyed the ministry and the fellowship of many friends in her senior years.

Louise is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Arthur Parks and Vera Lilly Parks, and her loving husband, John Higgins. She is survived by her four children, Bill Higgins (Barbara) of Auburn, AL, John Higgins (Anna Jean) of Lake City, FL, Richard Higgins of Huntsville, and Melinda Higgins of New Hope, AL, three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to express gratitude for the excellent care provided by Brookdale Assisted Living, South Hampton Nursing Home, and Encompass Hospice Services.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 1:00pm until 3:30pm. Funeral Services will begin at 3:30pm in Valhalla’s Chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens in the Garden of Everlasting Life. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to your local animal shelter or rescue center.
