John Thomas “Tommy” Pennington, Jr., age 71, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Monday, October 07, 2019 at Decatur County General Hospital in Parsons, TN. He was a native of Lawrence County, TN and retired supervisor from the Lawrence County Ambulance Service. Mr. Pennington was one of the first paramedics in Lawrence County where he served as coroner for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Pennington, Sr. and Mary Helen Smith Pennington; and one sister, Patricia Ann Rhodes.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Pennington of Lawrenceburg, TN; two sons, Chris Pennington (Susan) and Jamie Pennington (Kim), both of Lawrenceburg, TN; two daughters, Penny Benderman (Roger) of Columbia, TN and Nicole Dickey (Jay) of Lawrenceburg, TN; 12 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, October 09, 2019 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 10, 2019, with Larry Glass officiating. Interment will follow at Pennington Family Cemetery, 67 Greenwood Road, Lawrenceburg, TN.
