SHEFFIELD-Happy Birthday to a special Sheffield lady. Ms. Polly Averhart celebrates her 105th birthday today, Tuesday, October 8…but the party and celebration of Polly’s life took place at her home in Sheffield on Sunday.
Friends and family (6 generations) were on hand to help celebrate the life of Ms. Averhart. Sheffield Mayor Ian Sanford presented a key to the city to Ms. Averhart and Mary Stevens, president of VFW Auxillary 8640 President represented State Senator Larry Stutts and Probate Judge Daniel Rossier in presenting a resolution from the state. Ms Stevens proclaimed Polly Averhart as an honorary member of VFW Auxillary 8640.
The crowd of nearly 100 hundred wished Ms. Averhart a very Happy Birthday as they enjoyed food, fun and friendship. The Quad Cities Daily was on hand to capture the special day in photos and we are pleased to present them to you here:
