Obituary of Thomas Nelson Ferrell Sr. Thomas Nelson Ferrell, Sr., formerly of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Marshall Medical Center (Boaz, AL), surrounded by his loving and devoted family. He was 98 years of age.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the chapel of Valhalla Funeral Home, with Pastor Marty Jordan officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday.

Mr. Ferrell was born November 30, 1920 in Newport News, Virginia to Peter W. Ferrell and Addie Thomas Ferrell. He was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and retired from Redstone Arsenal as a Civil Service Electrical Engineer.

Mr. Ferrell was a patriot and one who wanted to make a difference in the community. He served as a deacon and was a charter member of Morningside Baptist Church (Huntsville) for many years. After relocating to Albertville, he became a member of New Heights Baptist Church to continue his Christian service. He was actively involved in the construction of several churches in the Huntsville area. He contributed much time and energy to the Jail Ministry and the Work Release Program. He was a man who truly believed in touching the lives of everyone.

Mr. Ferrell leaves this life to join his wife, Madeline Ferrell (2007); parents; and siblings.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory two sons, Nelson Ferrell (Sally) and Dennis Ferrell (Denise); three grandsons, Jason Ferrell (Michelle), Kevin Ferrell (Brenna) and Alan Ferrell; and four great-grandchildren, Brooke Ferrell, Brayden Ferrell, Bryce Ferrell and Chloe Ferrell.

The family requests memorial contributions be made in memory of Thomas Nelson Ferrell, Sr. to the Missions Ministry at the church of your choice.
