FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama Department of Communications received a $25,000 scholarship endowment from Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc., and Hannah Campbell and Chase Glover have been named inaugural recipients of scholarship awards.
“Earning this award means the world to me,” said Campbell, a Mass Communication major studying Journalism and Digital Media Production. “The only reason I’m attending college is through scholarships and awards. I’m beyond thankful for this scholarship and forever thankful to Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc., and the College of Arts and Sciences for making this scholarship. It will allow me to continue my education, earn my degree, and start my career in journalism.”
The UNA College of Arts and Sciences is providing $1,000 for three years in Country Radio Broadcasters Inc., scholarship’s name while the endowment generates additional scholarship funds.
“This scholarship endowment will provide our department with a significant opportunity to recruit talented students who want to study mass communication and radio broadcasting in particular,” said Dr. Butler Cain, chair of the Department of Communications. “We are grateful to Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc., for recognizing our academic department with this gift and helping us ensure a bright future for audio and radio programming.”
Campbell also works at Big Country 105.7 FM in Hartselle, and she said she hopes to continue working in radio or television news after graduation. Glover is a sophomore Mass
Communication major, also studying Journalism and Digital Media Production. His focus is on sports, and he hopes to work in radio and/or television broadcasting for ESPN or the SEC Network.
