MUSCLE SHOALSMuscle Shoals Recordings is proud to announce the release of “Avalon“, the first single from Billy Lawson’s debut album with the same name. The single will be available October 15th on all popular platforms. With a retro 60s R&B vibe, the title song pays homage to Rick Hall of FAME Recording Studios with its powerful lyrics and references to historic Muscle Shoals music. A video will also be released on YouTube.

Recently-formed record label, Muscle Shoals Recordings signed artist Billy Lawson in September 2019. Billy Lawson has been in the music business his entire life. He has been signed to Epic Records, appeared in the Oscar-Winning film Blue Sky, signed to Sony/Tree, has written two #1 hits for top Country artists, had a Gretchen Wilson cut play in an episode of The Sopranos on HBO and was one of the 14 handpicked song writers by John Rich for CMT’s Gone Country! Billy is also an extremely talented force in the Muscle Shoals music scene as a studio owner, producer and writer/artist.

The debut album was produced by Billy at historic Wishbone Recording Studio in Muscle Shoals. The title track include musicians Travis Wammack – Electric Guitar, Junior Lowe – Electric Guitar, Bad Brad Guin – Tenor and Bari Sax, Ken Watters – Trumpet, Clayton Ivey – Wurlitzer Piano and B3, Jim Whitehead – Wurlitzer Piano, The Shoals Sisters – Background Vocals and Billy Lawson on Bass, Acoustic Guitars & Drums. “Avalon” is Soulful R&B that echoes the history of the area with legendary musicians and Billy’s enchanting and truthful vocal.

“Billy Lawson has the kind of Soul you get from growing up in the Alabama woods around Muscle Shoals legends like Peanutt Montgomery and Junior Lowe. The kind of Soul he would bring to his brilliant songwriting career in Nashville, and now back home again to Wishbone Recording Studio, where his work as a hands-on producer and owner of his own record label have people in the industry taking notice. Perhaps the best part, though, is that Lawson is back out there performing, where his own brand of ‘Hillbilly Soul’ shines through every note… it’s in him, and it’s got to come out!”
