Donnie Fritts
SHEFFIELD – Musician, songwriter and “Leaning Man of The Shoals”, Donnie Fritts, who passed away recently, was remembered by his friends Sunday night, September 22. Fritts, who almost always attended the Positive Vibes jam sessions down at Southland Restaurant to share his music, his stories of his career with Kris Kristofferson, and cement his role in the lore that surrounds the Muscle Shoals music scene, would have been pleased and somewhat embarrassed with the outpouring of affection that was displayed that evening.
The Positive Vibes jam sessions are organized by one of Fritts’ closest friends, Johnny Belew. And upon the passing of Donnie, Johnny knew that it would be a really good thing to dedicate Sunday night to this legendary and extraordinary man.
