Jim Stanley, of HendersonJames “Jim” Wade Stanley, age 76 passed away early Friday morning, Sept. 20, 2019 at his home in Henderson.
He was born May 13, 1943 at Cherry Log, GA and grew up in North Georgia, the son of the late Lewis Monroe and Florence Lautrelle Mann Stanley. He was a 1962 graduate of Calhoun High School in Calhoun, GA and then attended Berry College for two years. He married Glenda Holloway in 1968 and they lived in Atlanta and later Ellijay, GA where he spent the majority of his career in computer technology in the carpet industry in North Georgia. They moved to Henderson, TN in 2001.
Mr. Stanley was an avid golfer, having played on the golf team as well as the basketball team in college. After his retirement he continued to enjoy playing golf. He also enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and spending time with his grandchildren.
While in Georgia he served as an Elder of the Ellijay Church of Christ. He was a current member of the Estes Church of Christ in Henderson.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Holloway Stanley, three daughters Michelle McCaskill (John), Heather Stanley both of Henderson, Cyndi McQueen (Kevin) of Parsons; a son Jonathan Stanley (Miranda) of Villa Rica, GA; a sister Imogene Forbes (Hank) of Ellijay, GA; a brother Ray Stanley (Ann) of Chatsworth, GA; eight grandchildren Jesse, Alex and Andrew McCaskill, Sierra, Marissa and Coleman Dove, E.J. and Lewis Stanley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Kathie Queen.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019 at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson’s Crook Avenue Chapel with John McCaskill and Doug Burleson officiating. Burial will be in Estes Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and Sunday from 12:00 pm until 2:00 PM.
