Ralph David Edfeldt, Sr., 97, of Huntsville passed away Thursday. Ralph was a man who made all he encountered smile and feel important. He loved God, his wife, his family, and all he endeavored to serve. During his life Ralph earned many achievements, accomplishments, and recognitions, just to name a few: graduate of Howard College (now Samford University) in 1943; Lieutenant, JG, retired, US Navy (served in World War 2); Career with Retail Credit Company (now Equifax) for 26 years; Prudential Insurance Company, 16 years; numerous civic, church, and service volunteer positions and recognitions in Orlando, FL; and been had a faithful member of various Southern Baptist churches, most recently, First Baptist, Huntsville, AL.
Survivors include children, Martha Joy Edfeldt Moore (married to Michael Moore), R. David Edfeldt, Jr. (married to Bonnie Steussy), and Richard Lee Edfeldt (married to Karen Blackburn Edfeldt); grandchildren, Lee Marlow (married to Tyler Marlow), Amanda Blaszczynski (married to Vince Blaszczynski), Joseph Moore (married to Anne-Marie Moore); Brook Steussy-Holsbeke (married to Mick Holsbeke), Ben Edfeldt (married to Beth Edfeldt), and Katie Guice (married to Andy Guice); and great-grandchildren, Michela Marlow, Emily Marlow, Suzanna Marlow; Madison Blaszczynski, Zoey Blaszczynski; Saorise Moore, Aoibhann Moore; Eddy Holsbeke; Tucker Edfeldt, Libby Edfeldt, Zane Edfeldt; Abby Guice, and Caleb Guice.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Patterson of 74 years at the time of her passing. They were married from February 12, 1944 to July 24, 2018. Also, a precious grandson, Jacob Edfeldt.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at First Baptist Church Chapel. The funeral service will immediately follow with Dr. Travis Collins officiating.
