James "Jim" Lee VickersJames “Jim” Lee Vickers passed away peacefully September 17, 2019 at his family home in Athens, Alabama surrounded by loved ones. Jim was born April 30, 1962 in San Antonio, Texas to Franklin Delano Vickers and Barbara Ellen Vickers.

He was his sons’ and grandchildren’s biggest fan and was known around every ball field for never missing their games. He loved his family fiercely, enjoyed playing, coaching, and watching sports, and was also a local business owner for many years.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sheila Pressnell Vickers of Athens, AL; his four sons, Randy Vickers and wife April of Athens, AL, James “Lee” Vickers II and wife Delana of Athens, AL, Jonathan Vickers and wife Sarah of Newnan, GA, and Lance Vickers and wife Lauren of Huntsville, AL. He is also survived by his sister, Cheryl Gaulding of Sumter, SC, Bob Vickers of Mooresville, IN, Patty Thomas of Murfreesboro, TN, and Kathe Kilpatrick of Athens, AL. Jim was the proud “Papa” of nine grandchildren; Jillian, Halston, Addison, and Ellysen of Athens, AL, Wyatt and Maddox of Newnan, GA, Cade of Sacramento, CA and Hunter and Hannah of Athens, AL.

A visitation for the family of Mr. Vickers will be held at Sardis Springs Baptist Church at 18310 Alabama Hwy 251, Athens Alabama on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm following a private burial. Service will be conducted by Brother Tim Keenum of Sardis Springs Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations be made to: The UAB Advanced Heart Failure Program or the Children’s Diabetes Foundation.
