Funeral services for Hedwig Ruth Patterson Buchanan, age 93 of Lineville, will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Rev. Pat Hurst officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Buchanan passed away on Monday, September 16, 2019 at the Lineville Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was a native and life-long resident of Clay County, a loving mother and grandmother who worked for several years as a nurse’s aide at the Lineville and Clay County Nursing homes, also at Higgins and Gay Manufacturing; she was a homemaker and a member of Good Hope Lineville Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters: Susan Harris (Kenneth) and Elaine Watts (Mike); one son, Larry Buchanan (Alma), all of Lineville; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a large extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Marcus Patterson and Exa Short; her husband, Curtis Buchanan; one daughter, Beth Buchanan; two sisters: Ernestine Lowe and Betty Johnson; and one brother, James Patterson.
Active pallbearers will be Randy Watts, Niel Watts, Joshua Seals, Ryan Seals, Jason Buchanan, Paula Buchanan, Nick Watts, and Braden Seals.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 from 9:30 A.M. until service time at 11:00 A.M.
