Explosion at Barton Industrial Park – One injury reported

UPDATE- -The explosion at the nitrate plant  in Colbert County did not result in a fire at the plant and emergency crews reported that all employees at the plant have been accounted for. There was one injured employee who was  taken to Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield. His identity and condition are still unavailable at this time.

The explosion reportedly happened around 10:00 pm.

The explosion was felt as far away as St. Joseph, TN and Iuka, MS.

We will provide more details as they become available.

Sounds like some important info is being not reported…It’s hard to believe a high pressure line being reattached during a down time for reparis could cause a blast that was felt over 30 miles from the plant!…Everyone knows that nitrogen can be used for more than fertilizer and the scenerio just doesn’t make sense for such an explosion to occur without the whole plant going up in flames and more people not being hurt!..Sounds more like there was an inside terrorist involved who intended to blow the whole place into the universe!.
