14-Year-Old Confesses To Killing Five Family Members

ELKMONT-The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office reports a 14-year-old has confessed to shooting five of his family members in their home on Monday, September 2 in the 16000 block of Ridge Road in Elkmont .

The teen called 911 to report a shooting in the home at around 10:30 PM.  According to investigators the boy said he was in the basement of the home when he heard gunshots coming from upstairs.

The teen later changed his story and confessed to killing his father, stepmother and his three siblings.  Three of the five victims were confirmed dead at the scene and two others were airlifted to a local hospital where they later died.

The teen assisted authorities in locating the weapon, a 9mm handgun.  The boy said he tossed the gun near the home after the shootings. The gun was located on the side of a road near the scene of the shooting.

LCSO deputies say the boy attended Elkmont High School.  Officials at Elkmont High School said grief counselors will be available to the student body for all who need help.
