CHEROKEE-The annual Coon Dog Cemetery Labor Celebration began to honor the first dog (Troop) who was buried in the one-of-a-kind cemetery for coon dogs in 1937.  There are over 300 graves freshly decorated to honor the coon dog.  The celebration has music, buck dancing, BBQ and a liar’s contest. You can buy wears from local vendors and visit with your neighbors while enjoying the fun events of the day.

The Quad Cities Daily always enjoys this fun event and we were pleased to be able to record the celebration in photos.  Download the ones you like and enjoy here!
