Herbert “Dude” Calvin Thomas, Jr., 80, of Iuka, MS, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka, Mississippi. He was a member of LU IBEW #558. He was an electrician by trade. He was a member of the Gideon’s International and was a speaker for them. He was a lay delegate for the United Methodist Conference. Herbert was a member of various church committees and was a former alderman for the City of Iuka. He was also very active in the J.C.’s and was once a member of the church choir. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gerry Ann McGill Thomas; his daughter, Susan Schuh (Maury); his son, Herbert “Trip” Thomas, III (Barbara); his sister, Mary Lou Tickell; his brotehrs, Richard Earl Thomas and Ray Thomas (Brenda); his brother in law, Harmon McGill; his grandchildren, Louis Schuh (April), Elizabeth Schuh, Hannah Walker (Tyler), and Ian Thomas (Amber); his great grandchild, Brennan Walker; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Thomas, Sr. and Mary Zerkle Thomas; and his great grandson, Jaxon Thomas. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka from 5pm until 8pm. Services will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at Iuka United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Harrell Moore and Rev. Kerry Powell. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Evans, Richard Clark, Louis Schuh, Ian Thomas, Tyler Walker, and Billy McKissick. Honorary pallbearers will be V.W. Grisham and DeWitt Bean.
