The Natchez Trace Parkway Hosts Chickasaw Celebration Speakers and Cultural Demonstrations

TUPELO, MS – The Natchez Trace Parkway and the Chickasaw Inkana Foundation (CIF) will host a program to celebrate Chickasaw cultural history on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, from 4 pm to 8 pm. Experts will speak about Chickasaw cultural history. Cultural demonstrations will include, the Chickasaw Dance Troupe, stickball, and cultural face painting.

“We are honored to partner with the CIF and provide a venue to learn about Chickasaw history and participate in Chickasaw cultural traditions,” said Superintendent Mary Risser.

Bret Holt, CIF’s Senior Manager said, “CIF is grateful for the opportunity to once again partner with the Natchez Trace Parkway to display the rich cultural heritage of the Chickasaw people in their traditional Homeland. We are grateful to the Natchez Trace for their continued partnership in our efforts to preserve, protect, and interpret Chickasaw history and culture in the Chickasaw Homeland.”

This program is free to the public. Indoor auditorium seating for the lectures is limited to 55 people. Weather permitting; the dance troupe will perform outside with no audience size limit.
