Annie Lee Mansfield

Annie Mansfield was born in Tennessee, the daughter of a sharecropper working in the fields picking cotton. She graduated from Flintville High School and attended Baroness Erlanger Hospital School of Nursing in Chattanooga graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 1946. She worked in Lincoln County Hospital after she returned to Fayetteville. She met her husband Bill while cruising the Fayetteville square in her Studebaker and they were married in 1951. While Bill was stationed in Korea, she lived with her in-laws, Zack and Eula. She was a devoted caregiver to her mother, mother and father-in-law and members of her family whenever they needed her nursing care. After she and Bill moved to Nashville, she worked at Baptist Hospital and in a private pediatric practice. She then worked for more than 25 years at American Red Cross. In addition to her career, she was a strong and loving mother.
Annie was the daughter of the late Sally and Herman Thompson. She is also preceded in death by her husband Bill Mansfield; her sisters, Ruby (Odie) Morgan, Sue Locke, Lucille (Tip) McClure, Pauline (Eddie) Simmons; her brothers, Raymond (Flora) Thompson, Joe Thompson and Frank Thompson, and her brothers and sisters by marriage, Leonard (Martha and Doris) Mansfield, Pauline (Bill) Norman, Louise (Joe) Simmons, Mildred Steelman, Ila Beavers, Lee Earl (Pauline) Mansfield, and Jack Mansfield.
Annie leaves behind two loving and devoted daughters and their husbands, Kathy and Larry Huggins and Kim and Jon Hoscheit; two grandsons, Matthew (Lilly) Garner and Craig (Lindsay) Huggins; step grandchildren, Jon and Jennifer Hoscheit and James and Arika Hoscheit, Melanie and Duane Harris; 9 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephew; her brother Wayne “Red” Thompson and sister by marriage Onis (Paul) Goode.
The family wishes to thank her caregivers at NHC Cool Springs for their care for her in the past year.

Graveside funeral service for Mrs. Annie Lee Thompson Mansfield will be conducted at 10 AM on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at Lincoln Cemetery with Bro. Eddie Graves officiating. Visitation with the family will be held at 5 PM until 8 PM on Monday, August 19, 2019, at Higgins Funeral Home.
