George Edward Vaughan, Sr., 84, passed away August 12, 2019 in Huntsville, AL.  He was born July 28, 1935 in Franklin to the late William W. Vaughan Sr. and Alta Hatfield Vaughan.  George was also predeceased by four sisters, Margaret Vaughan, Charlotte Foster, Ann Lamm, and Becky Vaughan, and three brothers William W. Vaughan, Jr., Council D. Vaughan, and Joseph D. Vaughan.  George was a graduate of Franklin High School, a retired electrician from Union Camp Corporation, and a retired National Guardsman after 24 years of service.  He loved God, family and country.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years Jean Coggsdale Vaughan; two daughters Debbie V. Puffer (Bruce) of Huntsville, AL and Terri V. Clark (Tim) of West Palm Beach, FL; two sons Billy Vaughan (Dawn) of Fuquay Verina, NC and Eddie Vaughan, Jr. (Angie) of Corapeake, NC; five sisters Elizabeth V. Johnson of Franklin, Carolyn V. Porter (Harvey) of Newsoms, Esther V. Simms (Ray) of Lynchburg, Kathryn V. Lamm (Dennis) of Franklin, and Patricia V. Bland (Steve) of Ashland; ten grandchildren Rachel Puffer Morris, Thomas Puffer, Esther Puffer, Ami Vaughan Summers, Lucas Clark, Tara Vaughan, Rebecca Vaughan, Ruth Puffer, Dylan Clark, and Taylor Vaughan; one great grandchild Jaxon Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, August 17, 2019, in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Hoyle Green officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will follow in Southampton Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday in the funeral home.

Berryhill Funeral Home of Huntsville assisted the family locally.
