Ann Catherine NormanAnn Catherine Dial Norman, age 87, of Columbia, Tennessee passed away, with her family by her side, at her daughter’s home, following an extended illness on Friday, August 09, 2019.

Ann was born on September 6, 1931, in Giles County, Tennessee, to Lee and Clementine McGowen Dial. She was married to Gene Norman and they had four children together. Ann started working when she was very young, and worked hard all her life, having retired from General Electric. She was very family oriented, loving and kind. Ann was known as “Granny”, not only by her own grandchildren, but by their friends as well. She was a member of Riverview Baptist Church.

Cherishing Ann’s memory are her children: Debbie (Mac) Palmer, Tereasa (Jerry) Sullivan, and Tammy (Robert, Sr.) Hatcher, all of Columbia; grandchildren: Jason Palmer, Lee (Daphne) Sullivan, Michael Sullivan, Katie Hatcher, Ashley Jackson, Elizabeth (Darnell) Covington, Robert (LeAnn) Hatcher, Jr., and Jamie (Wendell) Vandygriff; great-grandchildren: Steven Michael Sullivan, Zoe Covington, Courtney Hatcher and Malynna Vandygriff; sister: Martha (Roy) Norman; niece: Pam (Dale) Dillehay; and adopted family members: Madison and Bella Venere and Tiffany Humphrey. She was preceded in death by her parents: Lee Dial and Clementine Dial; husband: Gene Perry Norman; son: Randy Norman; grandson: Steven Perry Sullivan, and siblings: Bob Dial, J. W. Dial, Rachel Walters, Nancy Dial and Mary Jett.

Funeral services for Ann will be held on Monday. August 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. inside the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, in Columbia, with Joey Scruggs officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends, also on Monday, from 12 Noon until service time at 2:00 p.m.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to give special thanks to NHC Maury Regional and Compassus for their tender care of Ann, during her final illness.
