Franklee Whartenby, 92, of Huntsville passed away Friday. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Montevallo and her PhD in Economics from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Dr. Whartenby was a college professor until her retirement in 1993.
Survivors include her children, Charles Allen Whartenby, Katharine Ashley Whartenby, William Gilbert Whartenby, and Robert Anderson Whartenby; and six grandchildren, Miles Calabresi, Augustus Calabresi, Brent Calabresi, Tessa Calabresi, Victoria Whartenby, and Caroline Whartenby.
A private service will be held. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Prattville, AL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to DonorsChoose.org to support a classroom project.
