Donald Richard Madison, aged 75, passed away peacefully at home in rural Cordova, Alabama on Thursday, August 1st, 2019. Born in Jasper, Alabama Don moved to the greater Chicago, Illinois area at the age of eight. Don and his wife Ellen raised their own family in Romeoville, Illinois. Don spent many years being a dutiful son, often returning to Cordova to care for his aging parents who had returned to the area later in life. Upon his own retirement he relocated to Cordova to better care for his mother. In life, he served in the U.S. Army, earning an honorable discharge, and was provided the experiences that allowed him to care for his family throughout his adult life. A longtime member of the Chicago Truck Drivers, Helpers, and Warehouse Workers Union, Don served his family and greater community as a professional driver and diesel mechanic. Don will be remembered as a hardworking, fun-loving husband, father, sibling, and friend who was never without a kind word or teasing joke. He was a caring and compassionate provider and will always be remembered as such. Even-tempered in this life, he is sure to be perfected in the next.

Donald is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ellen Patricia (Dietzel) Madison and daughters Patricia Ann (and Patrick) of Vermont, Illinois, and Melissa Lee (and Shawn) of Cordova, Alabama; and son, Michael Richard (and Renae) of Bardolph, Illinois.
