Funeral service for Mrs. Carrie M. Hollis Honea, age 89, of Fayetteville, TN will be conducted at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Higgins Funeral Home with Dr. Ronnie Gay officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirkland Cemetery, beside her husband, Lawrence Waldon Honea.
Carrie was born on April 6, 1930 in Lincoln County, Tennessee to the late Kelcy Harvey and Anne Kilpatrick Hollis. She worked as a surgical nurse with Lincoln County Hospital and later retired from Humana Hospital in Huntsville, AL (now Huntsville Hospital East). Mrs. Honea loved fishing and was an avid BINGO player. She could often be found playing BINGO at the drive-in movies, on cruise ships, and the Lincoln County Senior Citizen Center. Mrs. Honea passed away on July 19, 2019 at her residence.
Survivors include her daughter, Debbie (Jim) Sydnes of Fayetteville; sons, Kenneth (Patsy) Honea of Taft, TN; and Larry (Charlene) Honea of Maine; grandchildren, Amy Sydnes, Alison (Jason) Ramsey, Chad Sydnes, Adam (Kelley) Honea, Joey (Hillary) Sydnes, and Kaitlyn Honea; and great-grandchildren, Austin (fiancee Barbra Mewborne) Ramsey, Ashley (Andrew) Quaife, Asher Honea, and Bryant Maddox. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Honea was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Simms; and brothers, Thomas “Buck” Hollis, James Harvey “Sonny” Hollis, and Ronald “Ronnie” Hollis.
Visitation with the family will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Monday, July 22, 2019 at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 10 Glenlake Pkwy NE South Tower, Suite 400, Atlanta, GA 30328 .
