Bennie “Buck” Thurman Bryant

Mr. Bennie “Buck” Thurman Bryant, 85, a Van Buren County native and resident of the Bone Cave Community, passed away Tuesday July 16, 2019 from an extended illness. He was born August 3, 1933 to the late Robert Taylor and Cleo Simons Bryant. He attended Mt. Elim Baptist Church, was employed for many years at Powermatic as a tool and die maker and served in the Tennessee National Guard during the Korean Conflict. Buck served several terms as Van Buren County Commissioner from the 2nd district.

Besides his parents Buck was preceded in death by daughter; Shana Bryant, brother; Bobby Joe Bryant, sisters; Deane Haston and Patti Sue McCormick, grandson; Ricky Howard.

He is survived by son; Larry (Jennie) Bryant of Guntersville, AL, daughters; Joan (Leton) Delong of Rock Island, Teresa Howard of Rock Island and Denise (David) Bonds of Spencer, brother; David B. Bryant of Texas, sister; Deann (Joe) Killebrew of Sparta. Grandchildren; Tracy McCoy, Jeremy Howard, Justin Bryant, Kayla Myers, Lenzy Armstrong, Austin Martin and Gus Martin. Thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday July 19, 2019 in the Layne Spencer Chapel with Bro. Willard Ralph officiating.  Visitation will be held Thursday 3:00pm to 9:00pm and Friday from 10:00am till time of service.  Burial will follow in the Laurel Creek Cemetery.
