TUSCUMBIA-The Combo Kings is a multigenre veteran band of 5 years originating in South Carolina. Its members come from musical backgrounds, with decades of experience between them, and pedigrees that include The Swinging Medallions, a 60s band with some chart-topping hits, and New York City’s Broadway scene.

The group will be entertaining the crowd along with “The Beehive Queen”, Christine Ohlman, in the lobby of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in addition to presenting director Sandra Burroughs with a large donation. “The Combo Kings performed last year and everyone has been asking us to have them back this year! We are excited to be able to have them back to help us celebrate the W.C. Handy Festival,” said Burroughs.

The concert will be completely free and will begin at 12 p.m., Wednesday, July 24th. The donation will be presented after the concert at 2 p.m. Refreshments will be available for purchase in the Gift Shop.

In addition to The Combo Kings concert and the W.C. Handy Festival, The Alabama Music Hall of Fame will be showing the movie “St. Louis Blues” about W.C. Handy starring Cab Calloway, Ella Fitzgerald, Eartha Kitt, and Alabama Native Nat ‘King’ Cole as W.C. Handy. The movie will start at 10 a.m. each day beginning Tuesday, July 23rd – Friday, July 26 and is free to the public. Free popcorn sponsored by Cypress Creek Indoor Range will be available to enjoy while watching the movie.
