Tour of Historic Homes During Tuscumbia Railroad Day

TUSCUMBIA-A tour of historic Tuscumbia homes, each associated with railroad history, will be offered to the public on July 13, 2019 from 1 – 3 pm.  The tour is part of the City’s Bicentennial celebration, Hail the Rail: Tuscumbia Railroad Day. Tickets are $6 and may be purchased in advance at Colbert County Tourism.  Tickets will also be available on Railroad Day at the Tuscumbia Depot Roundhouse and at each of the homes.

Included on the tour are: Locust Hill (209 S. Cave St.), Andrew Walker, owner; the McWilliams-Hunt House (609 W. Fourth St.), Andrew Walker, owner; and the Beasley House (201 E. Fourth St.) Mr. and Mrs. William Grimmitt, owners. Two stops for porch visits are also included at the Driver House (505 E. Sixth St.), Mr. and Mrs. Roger Fuller, owners and the Pride-Carmichael-Mize Cottage (400 W. Second St.), Joel Mize, owner.  Homeowners and volunteers will be on hand to share the interesting stories of each house and the railroad families who occupied them.
