LEE COUNTY, MS – On July 3, 2019, Parkway maintenance employees reported a vehicle in the woods near mile marker 258 on the Natchez Trace Parkway.  Rangers responded to the scene and found a red Ford Explorer approximately 200 yards off the parkway near Little Coonewah Creek.  A body was discovered in the vehicle.

The vehicle was registered to Glenda Spivey, 63, of Tupelo, MS.  Spivey had been reported missing to the Tupelo Police Department last week and she was listed as a missing person.  The Lee County Coroner was able to positively identify the body as Spivey’s and her family was notified that she had been found.

Natchez Trace Rangers are working with Tupelo Police Department and Lee County Coroner’s Office on the investigation.  “We will need to receive the autopsy report to determine what happened” said Chief Ranger Sarah Davis.   “Until then we cannot speculate on the cause of death.”  Rangers would like to thank the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Tupelo Police Department, Tupelo Fire Department, and Lee County Coroner’s Office who all assisted with the investigation and recovery.
