Florence Police Investigating Early Morning Shooting

FLORENCE-On Wednesday, July 3 the Florence Police Department issued a statement concerning a shooting that took place in Florence near midnight on Tuesday, July 2:

“The Florence Police Department is currently investigating a shooting which occurred shortly after midnight on July 2, 2019, in the 100 block of Marengo St. in Florence.

Officers responded to the area on reports of an assault that had just occurred. Responding officers located a 20 year old, white male, laying in the street bleeding from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Officers provided first aid and awaited the arrival of medical personnel. The male, whose name is not being released at this time, was transported to NAMC and later flown to Vanderbilt Hospital where has continues to receive medical treatment. His condition is not known at this time.

A person of interest in this case was located at the scene and has spoken to detectives. No charges have been filed at this time.

More information is expected to be available this afternoon as detectives continue to work this very active case.”
