Grover Laird, 90, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at his residence. He was born January 11, 1929 to the late Thomas Laird and the late Lina Broom Laird. Bro. Laird has been a Minister of The Gospel for 74 years. Twelve of those years were in full time evangelism. He was a member of East Fulton Baptist Church. He pastored churches in Mississippi, Kentucky, and Texas. He served as a state missionary in Texas and Kentucky. For over 20 years he had a jail ministry and spoke on radio stations locally and in the Philippines. He published “The Revivalist” for 44 years, wrote 7 Christian tracts and published a book “Sermons, Devotionals, and Thoughts”. He was a graduate of Southeastern Baptist College and received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary. He was the recipient of Itawamba County’s Citizen of the Year Award in 1988.

Services will be 11:00 am on Saturday June 29, 2019 at East Fulton Baptist Church with Ministers Dewitt Bain, Roger Laird, Kevin Clayton, and John Lewis. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday June 28, 2019 at Senter Funeral Home. Burial will be in Keyes Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Ester Mae Laird; daughters: Fran Wolski (Tommy) Thomas of Counce, TN, Evelynn (Tony) Dyer of Crandall, TX, Margaret Sheffield (John) Butler of Fulton, and Nancy (Tommy) Edwards of Petal, MS; granddaughters: Tammy (Tom) Coltharp, Ashley (Billy) Barnett, Lisa (Eric) Darracott; grandsons: Larry Moore, Garrett Dyer, Bruce (Lesley) Sheffield, Dustin Harris, Brady (Heather) Edwards; 11 great-grandchildren. Special thank you to his caregiver Norma Patrick.

Preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Thomas Moore, 5 brothers and 3 sisters, son-in-law, Dan Wolski.

Pallbearers will be Larry Moore, Dustin Harris, Josh Coltharp, Brodie Darracott, Eric Darracott, Tom Coltharp

Honorary Pallbearers are Garrett Dyer, Bruce Sheffield, Brady Edwards, Daniel Sheffield, Gabriel Dyer, Wyatt Darracott.
