ATHENS/DECATUR-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency released a statement concerning two separate accident that took place on Sunday, June 23 that has taken the life oftwo people person.
“A single-vehicle crash at 12:22 a.m.Sunday, June 23, has claimed one life.
A 2005 Chevrolet Silverado left the roadway on Elk River Mills Road and struck an embankment. The vehicle caught fire and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver has not been identified.
The crash occurred 9 miles west of Athens, and nothing further is available as ALEA State Troopers continue to investigate.”
“A single-vehicle crash at 7:40 a.m.Sunday, June 23, has claimed the life of an 8 year-old child.
A 2019 Dodge Durango, driven by Mary Tobar, 50, of San Antonio, Texas, left the roadway on Interstate 65 and overturned. The child, who was not restrained, was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Tobar was injured and transported to a local area hospital. Two other passengers in the Durango were not injured.
The crash occurred 3 miles north of Decatur. Nothing further is available as ALEA State Troopers continue to investigate.”
