“Art of the Dish” – Antique and Vintage China Exhibit, Luncheons and Program to be Presented at Belle Mont Mansion

TUSCUMBIA-“The Art of the Dish” – Antique and Vintage China Exhibit, an Alabama Bicentennial event, will open at Belle Mont Mansion, 1569 Cook Lane, Tuscumbia, on Thurs., June 27, and will continue through Sat. June 29.China and porcelain graciously provided from individual private collections will be displayed throughout the museum to showcase decorative arts in 19th Century Alabama through the mid 20th Century. At noon on Fri., June 28 and Sat. June 29, a catered box lunch will be served on the courtyard (advance ticket required) and a special program on 19th century entertaining will be presented by antiques collector and historian George Terrell. Terrell will display a complete set of Austrian china arranged in place-settings by courses and will describe how elaborate dinners for company were set and served in the 1800’s. Tickets for the luncheon and program are $20 and are on sale at Belle Mont, Colbert County Tourism and Fiddledee D gift shop, all in Tuscumbia.
