Mrs. Pauline S.  Foster, age 98, of Florence was a resident of Keestone and a lifelong resident of Lauderdale County except for a short period at Park Place, Sheffield.  Her husband of 59 ½ years, J. Henry Foster, preceded her in death as well as her parents, Ben F. and Mary B. Swinford, brother, Robert Swinford, sister, Mary Graben and son, Jerry Don Foster.

 

The memorial service for Mrs. Pauline S. Foster will be at Elkins Funeral Home Chapel, 1535 Hermitage Drive, Florence, Alabama with Herschel McFarland of Huntsville, AL officiating on June 13, 2019 at 2PM  Burial will follow in Tri Cities Memorial Gardens, Florence; the family will receive friends from 1PM  till 2PM at Elkins Funeral Home prior to the service.

 

 

Mrs. Foster was a member of the Church of Christ at Jackson Heights for over 50 years and taught classes there for many years.  She most recently attended Cox Boulevard Church of Christ services at Park Place and Mar’s Hill sponsored services at Keestone, Florence. Home Economics were among her favorite subjects at Waterloo High School.  She was a homemaker and seamstress.  She was active in the Alabama Extension Clubs having served as President of the Lauderdale County Council and representative to numerous State meetings.  She had a particular interest in Extension Clubs’ offerings on the arts of home and family. She worked at Reynolds Metals during WWII and served as a Scout Den Mother and was active in the PTA.  She was also an active member of the Red Cross and was a Red Cross volunteer at ECM Hospital, Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home and the Blood Mobile.  She enjoyed travel and she and her husband traveled extensively after his retirement from Reynolds Metals.

 

Survivors include her sons James H. Foster, Jr. and his wife, Glenda of Guntersville, Al and, Grandson, James H. Foster III of Lawton, Ok.  Granddaughters, Donna Foster Dailey and her husband, Dennis of Owens Cross Roads, AL; Amy Foster Clabough and her husband, Bob of Midlothian, Va; Ashley Foster of Berkeley, Ca; and Lesley Foster and her husband, Scott Storey of  Cupertino, CA  Barbara Barksdale Foster, mother of Amy, Ashley and Lesley of Midlothian, Va., six Great grandchildren and three Great- Great grandchildren.  Survivors also include other members of her very close family; Brothers-in-law, J.C. Graben, and Denzel Clark, and several Nieces and Nephews who were a constant help to Aunt Pauline.

 

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Elders of Jackson Heights Church of Christ.

 

Memorials are requested in lieu of flowers for the Heart or Cancer Funds or the Jackson Heights Church.
