LAUDERDALE COUNTY-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Marine Patrol has released the names of the victims in the boating accident that took place on Saturday night, June 8.
Lauren Cowart, 37and Blakely Cowart, 5 were pronounced dead at the scene. The mother and daughter are from the Augusta, Georgia area.
The injured man has been reported to be Ross Wooten of Florence. Wooten was taken to North Alabama Medical Center but has since been transferred to Huntsville Hospital in critical condition.
According to authorities the accident occurred between the bridge and the mouth of the Tennessee River. The crash involved a cabin cruiser and another boat and happened just before 11:00 PM.
According to investigators the injured and dead were on the small boat and the cabin cruiser had no one aboard injured.
The crash remains under investigation by ALEA Marine Patrol.
