Lester Eugene Hill, of Florence, was born on January 9, 1932 and gained his wings and heavenly home on June 5, 2019, surrounded by his children and grandchildren, at the age of 87. He was a member of Underwood Baptist Church. Mr. Hill was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army where he served as an MP while he was stationed in Albuquerque, New Mexico for two years. He was a 1951 graduate of Sheffield High School, and retired in 1992 from Reynolds Aluminum after 30 years of service. He loved traveling, and after retiring he and Frances purchased a home in Texas where they loved to spend time in the winter months. He loved square dancing, woodworking, playing cards, and dominos. He was also a bit of a pool shark. Mr. Hill was always up for a good joke; and he was a prankster. He was not a man of many words; but when he did speak you had better listen.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2019 in the funeral home chapel with Brother Tommy Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park with military honors.
