Kenneth Lloyd McCulloch was born May 23, 1932, in Decatur Alabama to George Ernest and Evelyn (Safley) McCulloch. On June 3, 2019 he was reunited with them, one sister Annelle (McCulloch) Smith, and brothers Edwin McCulloch, Ray McCulloch, and Jack McCulloch.

He was a loving and devoted husband for over 60 years to Roberta (Pair) McCulloch, and the ideal father to Daryl (Nancy) McCulloch, Victoria, Texas; Ken (Tammy) McCulloch Jr., Hillsboro; Pam (Greg)Creighton, Decatur; and Barry (Toni) McCulloch, Maryville, Tennessee.

He was proud to be called Granddaddy by Megan McCulloch, Houston, Texas; Jim (Sandi) McCulloch, Victoria, Texas; Dan Creighton, Decatur; Zac(Courtney) Creighton, Hartselle; Ashlee McCulloch, Bear McCulloch, and Hali Stutts, Maryville, Tennessee.

He was blessed to enjoy his great-grandchildren, Hunter McCulloch, Halyn McCulloch, of Victoria Texas; Olivia McCulloch and Carter McCulloch, Maryville, Tennessee. He adored his sister and dear friend, Ruth Jones Isbell, Birmingham. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and friends that he loved dearly, to carry on as he waits for them in Heaven.

Music was an important part of Kenneth’s life. He directed the Birmingham Chapter of the Sweet Adelines, the Woodlawn Christian Church Choir, the Decatur Chapter of the Barbershop Quartets, (1947-1948) and the First Christian Church Choir (volunteer) for over 27 years. He was also active in other aspects of First Christian Church, serving many times as Chairman of the Board, Worship Chairman, Stewardship Chairman, and Finance Chairman. He teased that the only committee he didn’t serve on was the Women’s Fellowship!

Kenneth retired from the Decatur Housing Authority, where he was the Housing Manager for more than 24 years. He served in the Army 1954-1956 where he received honors and medals for his exemplary conduct. He was also a 50+year member of the Rising Sun Lodge No.29 of F & AM of the Grand Lodge of Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Kenneth by donating to his memory at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, where he served and worshiped throughout his life. He also would be honored if you wish to donate to St Jude’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, or to Hospice of the Valley.

Pallbearers will be his sons, Daryl McCulloch, Ken McCulloch Jr., and Barry McCulloch, his grandsons, Jim McCulloch, Dan Creighton, Zac Creighton, and Bear McCulloch, and great-grandsons Hunter McCulloch and Carter McCulloch.

Honorary Pallbearers will be his nephews, Edd McCulloch and Ron Smith, his grandnephews, Marty Adams and Mike Smith, his great nephew, Derrick Adams, and the Elders of First Christian Church.

The family expresses a heartfelt thank you to our new friends at Hospice of the Valley for the love and care you showed Kenneth and Roberta. You made this long journey bearable.
