Reverend Lowell Dayton Baggett, 91, died Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Generations of Red Bay.  He was born July 23, 1927 in Vina, AL. to Elbert Baggett and Nonnie Armstrong Baggett.  He married Charlene Ledbetter on December 23, 1944 and together they served the Lord in music and ministry for seventy-four years.  Reverend Baggett served as Sr. Pastor of General and Southern Baptist congregations in Michigan, Kentucky, Missouri, Arizona and Tennessee before retiring from Community Center Baptist Church in Red Bay, AL in 2010.  Originally his calling to serve the Lord was in music where he attended the Vaughn School of Music and Conservatory of Music in Detroit, MI.  At the age of thirty, he was called to preach yet continued his love for the music notes wherever he served by teaching choirs and his family the importance of reading music, singing the scales, and worshiping the Lord through song.  Lowell’s children have lasting memories around the living room and sanctuary pianos practicing and memorizing gospel music.  His songs were published later in his life by the Cumberland Valley Music of Knoxville, TN, as well as other Tennessee publishers of congregational songbooks.  He loved his Savior and faithfully served God’s people and looked forward to hearing God say, “Well done”.

Services will be Saturday, June 1, 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Bill Harper officiating.  Burial will be in Pilot Hill Cemetery, Vina, AL.  Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL. will be in charge of arrangements.

Reverend Baggett is survived by three children – Glenda Baggett, Pensacola, FL, Terry Baggett (Jan) Houston, TX, and Karen Tilford, Birmingham, AL; five grandchildren– Christopher Sprabary (Christina), Hayley Cavin, Lindsey McGovern (Brad), Dr. Sean Tilford (Margaret Anne) and Tyler Tilford (Ashleigh) and five great-grandchildren.
