James “Fireball” Fred Herring, Jr. passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019. Visitation will be Sunday, May 26, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel with the service to follow in the chapel. Brother Jeff Newton will be officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. He worked at Reynolds for 45 years where he started a coffee funds for St. Jude. He gave his life to the lord at the age of 58.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Herring, Sr. and Maggie A. Herring; daughter, Rita H. Hewlett; and granddaughter, Carmen Jill Bowling.

He is survived by his wife, Lavelle Herring of Tuscumbia; son, Michael K. Herring of Sheffield; daughters, Vicki H. Bowling and Rebecca H. Wilson of Tuscumbia; sister, Wanda Mitchell of Leighton; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild. He was a great husband, father and grandfather. He loved his grandchildren and took care of them.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Byron, Tyler Herring, Will Hewlett, David Graham, Hank Johnson, and Kenneth Evans.
