Charles Wayne McCollum, 83, passed away Friday, May 24, 2019, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. On March 14, 1936, he was born to Norbin McCollum and Onie Garner in Lee County. Chuck proudly served his country during the Korean War for approximately three years in the United States Air Force. For most of his working life, he was a carpenter in the construction industry. He enjoyed building, arts and crafts, and playing the guitar. Chuck’s greatest joy was his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his children, Sherry Lynn Horton and her husband, Randy, Kelly Tadlock and her husband, Keith, Virginia Bailey, Shaun McCollum and his wife, Claudia, Van Carter and his wife, Becky, Scott Carter and his wife, Angel, David Carter, Tammy Leech and her husband, Bill, Tim Carter, and Ronnie McCadlefs; sister, Ann McCollum; brother, J.R. McCollum and his wife, Jean; mother of his children, Judith McCollum; and an abundance of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Anita Pitts; sister, Joyce McCollum; brothers, William McCollum and John David McCollum; and parents, Norbin McCollum and Onie Garner.

Private family services will be announced at a later date. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
