Dalton Lee Wright Dalton Lee Wright, of Tuscumbia, passed to his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the age of 79. His visitation will be Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Tuscumbia First United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Rudy Guess officiating. Burial will be in Shoals Memorial Gardens.
Dalton was a 1958 graduate of Rogers High School. He was inducted into the Army in 1963, serving until 1965. Dalton received the Good Conduct Metal, Expert M-1 Rifle and Drivers Mech Badge with bar-rank PFC E-3 and was honorably discharged July 31st, 1969. Dalton worked for 5 years at Swiney Gas Company and 35 years at Reynolds Alloys and 5 years at Wise Alloys retiring in 2003. He belonged to the United Steelworkers of America Local 200 for 40 years.
He met Helen, his wife, in July of 1977 and they were married on January 28, 1978. They were married for 41 wonderful years. Helen was the love of his life. He was an active member of Tuscumbia First United Methodist Church for 40 years where he served as an usher.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fisher Wright; his mother, Sue Smith; and his step-father, Homer Smith.
Dalton’s survivors include his loving wife, Helen; son, Chadwick Lee Wright and wife Kandi Wicks Wright of Huntsville, AL; brothers, William Alvin Wright and wife Catherine Wright of Florence, AL and Almon Smith of Cookville, TN; sister, Bettie Sue Townsley and husband David Townsley of Florence, AL; grandchild, Benjamin Chadwick Wright of Huntsville, AL; and nephew, Jeff Wright and wife Libby Wright.
The family would like to issue special thanks to Dr. Brad McAnalley, Dr. Marshall Schreeder, Chris and Seanae Neal, and the staff at CCI, the nurses at J.W. Sommer, the nurses at Helen Keller Hospital and to our church family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tuscumbia First United Methodist Mission Fund at 104 East Third St., Tuscumbia, AL 35674.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Lacks, Rodney Lacks, Chris Smith, Chuck Smith, David Townsley and Wes Harris.
