Mr. David Carlton Woods, 87, a resident of Hartselle, Alabama went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 20, 2019.  A memorial service will be Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Phillip Hines and Bro. Aaron Warnick officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. A brief graveside service will follow at Hartselle City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, he would like donations made in his memory to Sunbelt Christian Youth Ranch, 8782 Old Hwy 80. Lake, MS, 39092.

David was born May 7, 1932 in Houston, MS, to Ben and Gertrude Woods. He attended Holmes Jr. College, served two years in the U.S. Navy, then earned a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State in December of 1956.  He worked at Fryling Electric (Holly Springs, MS), Prestolite (Decatur, AL.), GTE Intergraph and Benchmark (Huntsville, AL). He loved being outdoors, from quail hunting with his pointer dogs, to fishing and deer hunting… but especially loved fishing. For him, it was more about spending time with his friends than the actual fishing.

David was a lifelong Christian and a charter member of Decatur Christian Church. He also attended Central Christian in Hartselle and the Hartselle Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years: Maxine Bumpas Woods, who he married on May 9, 1952, one son:Stanley D. Woods and wife, Shearie, two grandsons, Preston Woods and his wife Jennie and Kevin Woods and two step granddaughters: Brandy Thornton (Jason) and Bethany Siniard, 10 great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter: Debra Kay Bates.
