THE SHOALS-Steve Nesbitt was in the banking business in the Shoals for just under 40 years.  He was a long time Board member and advocate for the SBi.  Steve had a true passion for both the Shoals and its business community.

Following his untimely passing in March of 2017, the SBi Board of Directors formed a committee to evaluate the right approach to honor his service to our Center and the community.  To this fact, the “Steve Nesbitt Innovation Award” was created to recognize a current SEC client or graduate based on their innovative and or creative concepts related to their business processes.  The winner is selected via an ad hoc committee of community leaders and awarded annually

The second annual “Steve Nesbitt Innovation Award” was recently presented to Robert Walker of Service One Transport.  Robert was recognized for his innovative concepts in promoting his business, his exceptional community involvement, and overall entrepreneurial spirit.

Upon accepting the award, Robert Walker commented, “Steve was an outstanding business and community leader.  It is an honor to receive this award in his memory.”  Service One Transport President, Kelly Robinson added, “I am very thankful to the Shoals Business Incubator for presenting this award to my father.  We can’t say enough about the things both the SBi and Steve Nesbitt did to help our business grow and be successful.”

Giles McDaniel, the SBi’s Executive Director, stated “Steve spent a lot of time and energy promoting the Shoals Business Incubator and had a real passion for the small companies that have grown from here.  We are pleased to be able to honor Steve’s memory with this award.”
