Louise Lewis Norris – Obituary

 Louise Lewis Norris, resident of Ashland , retired Benton County Dispatcher and wife of the late Samuel Felix Norris, departed this life Thursday evening May 16, 2019 at the Ashland Health & Rehabilitation Center in Benton County. She was 82 years of age and died following an extended illness.
A late afternoon Funeral Service honoring the life of Mrs. Norris will be at 5 PM Saturday May 18 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home. Bro. Harvey Scott will officiate and burial will follow in the Ashland City Cemetery beside her beloved husband of 51 years.
A native of Hickory Flat, Mrs. Norris was born July 1, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Ellis Reed and Sallie Denham Lewis. She was a graduate of Hickory Flat High School and had been a resident of the Ashland Community since 1966.
A Christian, Mrs. Norris will be remembered by many for her familiar voice while serving as a Dispatcher for the Benton County Sheriff’s Department for 20 years before her retirement.
Mrs. Norris was married 51 years to her devoted husband, Samuel F. Norris, a retired U.S. Postal Carrier in Marshall County and a United States Air Force Veteran who died April 14, 2018.
An avid reader, Mrs. Norris enjoyed “road trip” vacations with her family and found much pleasure in challenging “Sudoku” puzzles.
A visitation for family and friends will be Saturday from 4 PM to 5 PM at The Ripley Funeral Home.
Memories will be cherished by her daughters, Lisa Tolley (Steve) of Decaturville, TN and Lynda Strickland (Stanley) of Ashland, three grandchildren, Amy Tolley of Decaturville, TN, Skyler Strickland of Pecos, TX and John Thomas Sams III of Columbus, MS.
She was also preceded in death by a son, John Sams II, a sister, Florence Riggs and a brother, Bill Lewis.
Active Pallbearers will be her loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express special thanks to Homecare Hospice for their care and concern for Mrs. Norris during her illness.
