Jerome Doyle Williams – Obituary

Jerome Doyle Williams, 70, entered the pearly gates of Heaven on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from his residence in the Wren Community.  Born into a family of 8 children on December 29, 1948 in Sulligent, Alabama to the late Mose Jackson Williams and Gertrude McKay Williams, Doyle grew up there and married Patricia Ann Barnes on March 15, 1969.  They moved to the Nettleton area shortly thereafter and began their family.  Doyle worked for Hickory Springs as a tape edge operator after over 25years service.  A jovial soul who loved people and laughter, Doyle made friends all over the mid-South as he performed with the Williams Family and Still Standing Gospel groups.  His voice was stout and distinct and he used this gift from God to bless thousands of souls over his lifetime. His family was noted for their generosity and performed free at hundreds of benefits over the years for those in distress and need. Doyle was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Nettleton, a born again Christian and an splendid example of spiritual strength that others recognized and looked up to.  A country boy, Doyle loved his home and enjoyed sitting on his front porch watching his grandchildren, who loved their Papaw.  He will be missed by a grateful family and a host of friends everywhere.

A service celebrating his home going will take place at 4 PM Sunday, May 19, 2019 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with his nephews, Bro. Mark Williams officiating and Sammy Collins will read the obituary. Doyle will personally sing many of his favorite songs over the years  from his CD collection  Private burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery near Nettleton.  Visitation will be from 4 PM-8 PM today (5/18/2019) and from 3 PM-service time on Sunday, all at Holland-Tupelo Chapel which is honored to be serving their friends and neighbors.

Left to await their reuniting with Doyle are his family; wife, Pat Williams of Wren, sister, Brenda Myhand of Nettleton.  His son, Tony Williams and wife, Melanie of Eggville and daughter, Kim Kilgore and husband, Alan of Wren.  4 grandchildren; Kayla Ethridge (Erik), Cody Williams, Haley Kilgore and Aubree Kilgore.  3 greats, Addyson Ethridge, Bryson Ethridge and Braydon Kilgore. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his sibling in laws. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Junior Williams, Eugene Williams, Virginia Godsey, Ludie Johnson, Rayburn Williams and Dean Williams.

Pallbearers will be  Aaron Myhand, Darrell Johnson, Tony Pate, Darrell Barnes, Tim Denton and Donald Denton.
