Thomas "Tommy" Auburn ScottIt is with a heavy heart that we celebrate the life of Tommy Scott. Tommy was the son of Roy and Martha Scott, a third generation farmer and Co-owner of Scott’s Orchard. He was born and raised on Scott’s Orchard in Hazel Green, AL. He attended Sparkman High School, graduating in 1969. He married Kay Travis Scott in 1972 and in their 47 years of marriage were foster parents to 23 children.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Kay; daughter, Nina Hall; foster son, John Nichols: brother, Larry, and his wife, Joan; nephew, Kevin and wife, Martha; niece, Jill, and her husband, Timmy Swinford; and great nieces and nephews, Will, McKenzie, Haley, Hayden, and Alex;

Tommy handled most of the orchard’s farming operations, including all of the row crops. In addition to running the orchard with his family, Tommy was a tireless supporter of organizations like the Madison County Special Olympics, United Cerebral Palsy and was an active member of Unity Church of Christ.

Tommy is best described as a good and kind man. Generous in spirit, Tommy was a man of his word, who treated everyone with care and respect. He freely invested his time to activities supporting those less fortunate than himself.

Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The service will follow in the chapel with Wayne Harvell officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens. (www.laughlinservice.com)
