Mr. Jim Ray HaynesJim R. Haynes, age 70, of Guntersville, Al, died on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Marshall Manor.
Jim R. Haynes was born on August 1, 1948 in Arab, and was the son of Donald Haynes and Maudine Fleming Gardner. In recent years Mr. Haynes was the operator and auctioneer at Mountaintop Auction, Guntersville. He was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church. Mr. Haynes earned a Doctor of Educational Leadership Degree from Arkansas State University in 1999, and Bachelors Degree in Home Economics from Auburn University in 1974. He was a 1966 graduate of Arab High School. Mr. Haynes had a 30 year career in college foodservice that began at Auburn University in 1969; he later served as Food Service Director at Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C. from 1980-1984; and Food Service Director at Arkansas State university from 1984-2000. He served as Associate Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics at eastern Kentucky University in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences in Richmond Kentucky from 2000-2013.
Mr. Haynes is survived by as son, Michael Haynes; and a daughter, Geneva Haynes, both of Richmond, Kentucky; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Johnelle Haynes of Arab, Larry and Ruby Dunn of Union Grove, and Bruce Dunn of Louisiana; two sisters and brother-in-law, Rita Haynes Rechia of Gadsden, and Sharon and Richard Marion of Arab. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sandy Griggs; parents, Donald Haynes, Maudine Fleming Gardner; and by his estranged wife Marsha Berry Haynes.
Memorial service will be 6:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2019 at New Canaan Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Burgett, officiating. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel assisting the family.
