Joel Don Jones, 76, of Hartselle passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2019 after a battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 6 till 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Dyar, Bro. Tim Box and Bro. William McClellan officiating. Mr. Jones will lie in state from 1 till 2 pm at the church. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery.
He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Joel was a man of God pastoring Corinth Missionary Baptist Church for many years as well as re-establishing Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Russellville, AL in the 1970’s. He possessed a gift of working with the youth and led numerous people to Christ.
Survivors include his wife Jennie Jones; son, Keith Jones (Racine); daughter, Cindy Wagnon (Bruce); grandchildren, Cain Bryant (Tammy), Sarah Bryant (Josh), Sydney Cassidy, Dylan Jones (Lauren), Lexie Jones, Amanda Peek (Jeremy), and April Grimes; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Joel was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt and Ethel Jones; daughter, Angie Jones; and grandson, Joshua Dutton.
Pallbearers will be Dylan Jones, Cain Bryant, Jeremy Peek, Josh Roberts, Mike Jones, Mickey Jones, and Joe Glover. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Wigginton, Paul Waters, Leon Patterson, Tony Southern, and Tom Brown.
